Coiled Tubing Specifications

  • The Coiled Tubing Specifications app is a resource to quickly lookup coil specifications and information provided by the tubing manufacturer including:
    • Material properties such as yield strength and tensile strength
    • Manufacturing specifications such as minimum wall thickness and internal diameter

  • Additional helpful calculations are provided including:
    • Burst and collapse pressures
    • Torsional yield
    • Capacity and displacement
    • Cross-sectional area and weight per foot
  • Currently, the following manufacturers are included:
    • Quality Tubing, Inc.
    • Global Tubing
    • Tenaris Coiled Tubes
    • Jason Oil and Gas

Plasting Bending

  • The AES online plastic bending model can be used to calculate the residual curvature and residual stresses for a sequence of bending events and axial loadings, with internal pressure.
  • The AES model uses both the simple (bi-linear stress/strain) and cyclic (Ramberg-Osgood cyclic stress strain curve) material models.

Tubing Limits

  • The AES online tubing limits model can be used to calculate the burst and collapse pressures, and the maximum tensile and compressive loads on tubing.
  • The Von Mises limit (a combination of radial stress, hoop stress, axial stress, and torque) is used to determine what pressure and load cause the tubing to yield.
